Democracy is defined by more than just majority rule. Democracy is built upon the rule of law, due process, and respect for the human rights for all people. Authoritarianism stifles civil liberties, freedom of speech and the press, and demolishes the institutions that we rely on. We are fighting everyday to stop the rising tide of authoritarianism in our own back yard.
