State Senate Candidates

Adams County has six (6) Colorado Senate Districts (SD). State Senators serve four (4) year terms, so not all the senators have an election this year.

Senate District 21

Adrienne Benavidez.

Adrienne Benavidez

Colorado State Senator

Adrienne Benavidez was selected by a vacancy committee after the resignation of Sen. Michaelson-Jenet. She will serve through the end of this year. She is now running to serve a the remaining two years of the term from 2027-2029.

She also served as a House Representative for House District 32 from 2017 to 2022. Benavidez has been practicing law since 1991. She is running to protect the fundamental rights for Coloradans, help small businesses, and support Colorado workers.

Alex Ryckman.

Alex Ryckman grew up in Adams County and attended public schools and universities throughout his educational career and has exclusively taught in public schools as a teacher. He not only grew up in a working family but he is also now the father of two wonderful daughters who also attend public school as well as married to a public school teacher. He is running because he believes in our community and accessibility to education being a human right.

Michael Scanlon.

Michael Scanlon

Logistics Professional

Michael Scanlon is a logistics professional and proud member of the Teamsters Union.

  1. He founded the Commerce City Chamber of Commerce.

  2. He founded ClimateCon! and manage the annual convention.

  3. He served 6 years as a Director on the South Adams County Water & Sanitation Board.

He is running to give priority to working people over the concerns of the wealthy elite. His legislative priorities are to raise the minimum wage and make it easier to start unions, lower childcare costs, simplify green energy permitting processes, and raise taxes on the top 1%.

Senate District 24

Kyle Mullica.

Kyle Mullica was first elected to the State Senate in 2022. He is now running for re-election. He is the only Democrat running in SD 24.

When not serving in the legislature, Kyle Mullica is also an ER Nurse. As a health care professional, he knows how important it is that health care is not only affordable, but accessible to all.

Senate District 25

William Lindstedt.

Colorado Senate Senator

William Lindstedt was selected by a vacancy committee after the untimely death of Sen. Faith Winter. He is now running to serve a full term.

William is a former assistant bench jeweler, public transit outreach advocate, community organizer, and former member of the Broomfield City Council. He is running for State Senate District 25 to continue getting results for Colorado families.

Tom Klenow.

IT Director

Thomas "Tom" Klenow is running as a Democrat in Senate District 25. He is a public servant at a higher education institution. We were unable to locate a campaign website for this candidate.
