When filling vacancies, our north star is a transparent process where voters weigh in. The 2026 General Election is just around the corner. With that in mind, we have decided not to conduct a vacancy committee process to fill this seat.
Colorado's system of filling vacancies is far more democratic than most other states' systems, and we take this responsibility very seriously. However, voters should choose their next representative without the influence of a vacancy committee this close to the election, especially considering the State Legislature is not in session, it's not planning a special session, and there’s no business being conducted.
It’s best for our community for the voters to have their say on November 3rd!
